Checking, Battle & Compete
Checking, Battle and Compete Camp will push players to compete at a higher level and to become more comfortable with body contact and physical engagement type drills. Players will learn how to utilize their bodies to win the 1 on 1 battle, races for loose pucks, puck protection and wall play. Along with properly taking and receiving a check.
The on ice component of the camp is focused on:
- Engagement drills
- Small area games
- Battle and competing skills
- Puck protection
- Cycling concepts
- Correct body checking/receiving skills
- Giving and receiving a check
- Respect for your opponent
- Two 60 minute ice sessions per day
Daily Hockey IQ session to discuss and reinforce what is being taught on the ice. Daily dry land session daily focusing on conditioning, balance and core strength.
Daily schedule includes 2, 60 minute on ice sessions, one dryland training session and one Hockey IQ session.
