Beginner Skate'n Play

At SAH we believe that a great positive start to hockey is the foundation for a long lasting love of the game. We have developed a program for 3-7 year olds to introduce them to the basics of hockey. This program will have a strong focus on skating skills and balance, agility and control will be reinforced throughout each skill introduced. Progression through this program will build skill and confidence in a fun, supported environment.

This program is intended to introduce new to hockey families/players to the game of hockey, and to experience their initial introduction in a positive, assessable and affordable way.

We are pleased to partner with Canadian Tire at the Preston Crossing location to assist families with equipment expenses. Once a player is registered in this program and you purchase any children's hockey equipment needed at Canadian Tire, Preston Crossing you will receive a Canadian Tire gift card for 50% of the cost of equipment purchased to a maximum of $250.00. Receipts for the purchase will be required at the first session and the gift cards will be available within 2 weeks.

Participants will need hockey skates, gloves, stick and a helmet with a full cage. Optional equipment, elbow pads and kneepads are recommended or full hockey gear. Hockey sticks will be introduced a few weeks into the training period.

Players registering for this program should be able to stand and march on the ice unassisted. Instructor/assistants to player ratio will be 5 to 1.

Our goal is to have your child fall in love with the game of hockey!
